Paul Kandel is amazing as Clopin’s singing voice. I couldn’t believe how he was able to sing and really feel like we are listening to a story in Paris!
I love even as dark as the theme is, the message of this story is never judge a person solely on looks, otherwise you might miss a chance to know a great person.

One of the guards voices, does the main guards voice in Aladdin =]
I remember seeing this in the cinema and just being =O The opening is terrifying, and Frollo is the scariest character going. Though I got very confused when Clopin is good at the beginning but not in the middle of the film, Very confusing, but hey in 1996, I was 5 years old so!
Thanks for uploading =]

i understand how much censoring disney did
in this movie compared to the book but since this is disney it has to be somewhat appropriate for kids and besides this is probably disney’s most mature movie

I read the book when I was 12..
I saw that Disney left out many parts for good reason, and ommited certian people.
Victor Hugo said himself that he didn’t like the English translation-for it implies that there is only one main character.
But..Frollo still rocks either way.

Yeah, I was surprised, of all stories, why Disney chose this one. But I guess they wanted to make their own message from it that outer appearances are not as important as inner character.

@MusikInMeSoul In the book, Quasimodo was half deaf, Esmeralda was a prostitute, and Frollo had more of a creep factor.

@MusikInMeSoul Yes, but this is Disney, so don’t expect them to go by the book, not even a little bit.
If it ends tragically, it ends happily. If it’s too dim and deep for kids, they’ll change it up to make it for a broader audience. Though Disney used to shoot for broad audiences (Which is usually kids and their parents and maybe their older siblings) now the demographic is just the kids.
The book is definitely not a kid’s book.

In the book, didn’t the gypsies steal Esmeralda from her mother and put Quasimodo in her place and her mother brought him to the church?

Clopin was always my favorite. I love the songs in this disney version and I thought it was an instant classic!!!
Hugo, Victor, Laverne (voiced by Jason Alexander, Charles Kimbrough, and Mary Wickes). this was actually Mary Wickes last film role. she died the previous year.

I can only imagine the feeling one got when sitting in the theaters and seeing the opening. I don’t know if I’m insane but it must have felt amazing. : )

I agree with this statement.
When I first saw the movie I only saw him for his person and not his looks.

Thismovie teaches a good lesson. Never judge someone by the way they look or where they come from. Qusi may be ugly, but he’s so sweet and nice. Esmarelda may be a gypsy, but she’s nice, caring, and stands up for her rights when no one else will. And besides, I think Qusi is kind-of cute when you get past the outside.

When I saw this movie I didn’t think that he was disformed.
